Global Integrated Controller

There is high demand on global integrated application of electronic door access control system to operate reliability and stability, achieve real time performance and easy implementation. Bostex has developed a revolutionary Global Integrated Controller (BS610-4G) to satisfy these requirements and achieve the following applications:
1.Global Anti-Passback
2.Global Fire Alarm Integration
3.Global Mimic Status Monitoring, Control and 3rd Party Equipment Integration
4.Global Arm/Disarm and Alarm Panel integration

System Description

Reliability & Stability
The conventional method of global integration is implemented using a back end desktop personal computer to receive data from the field controllers and perform data synchronization or send control command to the respective controller devices after a sequence of predefined process logic. Such implementation will prone to problem due to Operating System stability, 3rd party client application running within the same computer which caused unpredictable issue, open to virus attack especially when computer has access to internet, hardware not reliable when operate under a 24/7  environment, require expensive battery backup solution, possible harddisk storage media crash issue will cause the operating system and data corruption which is unrecoverable.
To overcome the above problem, Bostex has used one of our most reliable and field proven embedded controller to achieve this global integration requirement. Bostex Global Integrated Controller (BS610-4G) has adopted the following step to ensure integration reliability and stability:
1.Application is running on embedded Linux Operating system which is proven to be more stable.
2.Is design for dedicated global integration purpose, therefore no unpredictable problem can cause by 3rd part application.
3.Both Linux OS secure architecture and no access to internet has minimized it chances of virus attack.
4.Working under a 24/7 operation, embedded design is definitely a much better choice as compare to personal computer.
5.Low power consumption; a normal inexpensive 12V 7AH battery is able to provide a stable backup power supply of more than 10 hour when main supply fail.
6.The use of solid state flash media storage without moving mechanical part has further ensured a 100% reliability of controller.

Real Time Performance
BS610-4G able to achieve real time performance by using a point to point event driven communication with all TCP/IP network based door access controller regardless of the load condition.
Compared to the conventional serial communication or polling method that need to waste time on half duplex sending and receiving cycle. The performance will be degraded and unpredictable when some of the controller has communication failure or system encounter heavy data traffic.
By processing only based on those predefined controller monitoring point information instead of all information has further escalate the real time response of the global process.

Easy Implementation
Using the conventional method, lot of hardware/software setup and configuration work need to be done such as laying additional wire and communication line, reconfigured the overall door access controller addressing scheme especially during system upgrading stage which may lead to reassign door access right and reconfigure the back end database to include the global integration function.
When using BS610-4G, field engineer just need to perform up to 4 steps to complete global integration function:
1.Install the BS610-4G, provide it with a LAN point and IP address.
2.Setup the BS610-4G IP address in those door access controller that need to be integrated without changing it existing Host IP address.
3.Perform a searching operation on BS610-4G to register the door access controller.
4.If global fire integration or mimic function is required, a linking and process logic need to be written in XML format and upload to BS610-4G. If only global APB is required, this step can be omitted.
These 4 simplified steps have greatly reduces the implementation work required especially during the upgrading stage. This will give customer the choice of implementing global function at the later stage only when they feel the need to further enhance the security level.

Application Description

Global Anti-Passback

The existing Bostex's door access controller has built-in with anti-passback feature. Our multi-door (2, 4 and 8 doors) controller is able to perform anti-passback operation for one or more doors with multiple APB zone control. However in a more complex or scatted environment (e.g. pedestrian gate system) especially when global anti-passback was not design during the early implementation, BS610-4G will be the best solution to be considered.
Similar to the single controller APB setup, field engineer just need to configure the respective door In/Out zone (range from 1-255) and BS610-4G IP address. The global APB setup is completed after BS610-4G has performed the door access controller searching operation.
During the system setup, no door access controller address need to be reconfigured, no door access right need to be reassigned/download to the controller and BS610-4G, no additional user training is required.
At the back end software (BTEPS), all the enable/disable and APB reset operation is the same with or without BS610-4G existence. Operator will be automatically alarmed by the system if BS610-4G communication failure cause by unforeseen problem.
BS610-4G also provide a daily automatic housekeeping operation to reinitialize either all or those unused card for a predefined number of day to a reset state.

Global Fire Alarm Integration

Before BS610-4G was developed, Bostex already provided few method of fire alarm integration such as BTEPS-OPC using computer, Controller BS610-4S broadcast command via RS485 communication and physical hard wire method which have been highlighted with various problem and complication.
BS610-4G has provided the full flexibility of monitor fire alarm input from any part of the integrated doors, devices or even BS610-4G local input points and unlocked any particular controller's door when fire alarm activated.

Field engineer just need to configure a XML format file to setup one or more fire alarm input group to unlock one or more door output group using either “OR” or “AND” logic and download via FTP to  the designated BS610-4G folder to complete the setup. The configuration will take effect automatically without rebooting the controller.
Instead of buffering any unprocessed command to some communication failure controller, BS610-4G will always request for the latest status from the respective controller when communication recover, i.e. fire alarm will only be processed if the signal still exist.

Global Mimic Status Monitoring, Control and 3rd Party Equipment Integration
Since BS610-4G is also receiving the same real time door/device status and able to execute control commands as BTEPS-MS (Monitoring Station), we are able to physically map those important door alarm status (force open, left open, duress, tamper etc.) to the respective 16 output points available on the BS610-4G and using it's 16 input points to control (Lock, Unlock, Arm, Disarm etc.) those dedicated doors. This will give field engineer the ability to customize a Mimic Panel to perform a similar function as BTEPS-MS and install at site when software operation and personal computer is not allow but a real time monitoring is required.
Similarly integration to 3rd party equipment such as CCTV switcher, Notification system etc. is also possible.

Global Arm/Disarm and Alarm Panel integration

Some of the current door access controller come with an arm/disarm function which is able to monitor it local alarm input with basic alarm monitoring operation similar to alarm panel. With BS610-4G global status synchronization capability, field engineer is able configured a group of doors to perform arm/disarm as a group operation, i.e. arm/disarm from one door will arm/disarm those related door and vice versa. At the same time, these doors arm/disarm and alarm status are able to feedback to 3rd party alarm panel via hardwire using IO points available in BS610-4G.

The above implementations are just some of the application which are commonly used and can be easily achieve using BS610-4G. With BS610-4G innovative and reliable design concept, the realizing of more complex global application has become possible.
